what this blog is about

PHILLIP for the Falvo family — FL

John  14:18  “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”  When  Michael and Maria Falvo stood in the cold , stark, play room on that very cold day in October 2010 that is the verse that came to mind while saying goodbye to all the beautiful,  lonely little ones who they knew the world had forgotten.  They  promised one special little boy Sasha (Phillip) that they would do EVERYTHING  they could to send a family for him. Sasha had wiggled a special place in Michael and Maria’s hearts. He was referred to by the caregivers in the group as  “Renat’s Best friend.” The boys had shared a crib then toddler beds since they were 3 months old. The boys were now 5.  Renat was the little boy with Down Syndrome the Falvo’s were adopting along with their newest daughter Taiya  who also has Down syndrome.  ”He is a good boy!”  They would say.  ”He is a good friend to children.”  Then why is he all alone  here in an orphanage with all these other special children they would think? Why aren’t  families coming for each of them? WHY??  Because people don’t know  HOW bad these children have it. They don’t see the laying down room where Taiya lived in a crib for all her 4 ½ years. They are afraid to step out in faith. They don’t see the ground beets and watered down apple juice the kids have for each meal. They don’t see the look of pure  LONGING, and heartbreaking SADNESS on the faces of those teeny children who have almost, almost, given up and ever being loved. They have never seen the smile break out on the face of an orphaned child simply because you bent down and kissed their tiny little hand. IT.WILL.CHANGE. YOU. You never want to forget. It hurts our hearts but it BREAKS JESUS’ HEART. We have to have faith. We have to believe we can change the world. ONE child at a time. Andrea Roberts believes. She gives the kids faces.

While the ‘best friends’ hugged tightly and said what they didn’t know was their final goodbyes, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Walking out that door, leaving Sasha behind , and all those children who desperately wanted a mama and papa of their own, was VERY bittersweet. They were so excited for Taiya and Renat to start their new life, but so sad for the kids who would never know the life of a family.  A full year has passed and sweet Sasha has not been forgotten. They have advocated for him and prayed for him.  The past year has been hard on the Falvo’s  with many ups and downs  and many changes have been made to focus more on their growing family. After many “hints” from God that Sasha was met to be in their family the Falvo’s are stepping out in faith and going back to bring this sweet child home!!!  He should be  with his best friend/brother, the only family he has ever known.
